The last UMC shadowing day placed the group in cardiovascular surgery, where staff and the head surgeon first walked students through the department and the types of adult and pediatric cases they manage.

Inside the operating room, the experience became unforgettable. Students observed preparation steps, bypass setup, valve repair work, and the precision required before a case can even begin.

What made the day especially meaningful was how much explanation the team received throughout. It turned a rare observational opportunity into a lesson about rigor, teamwork, and the standards behind surgical care.
